It’s not unusual for films that are half way mid production for them to still cast actors or actresses, case in point today Marvel cast one of the most decorated actresses in Hollywood Annette Bening in the new Captain Marvel movie. Not much is known who exactly she will be portraying only that she will be a scientist. The four time Academy Award nominee will be joining Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson in what’s sure to be a huge prelude for Avengers 4. This is Bening’s first foray into the Marvel Universe and she couldn’t be more excited in joining the first female led Marvel film.
“Half Nelson” helmers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are directing, while Kevin Feige is producing the Marvel pic. Cast already includes Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn and Gemma Chan, as well as Djimon Hounsou and Lee Pace, with the latter pair reprising their characters from 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s being said that Captain Marvel will be instrumental in saving the Avengers. We’ll just have to wait till March 2019 to find out.
Based on the Marvel comic character first appearing in 1968, the story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Set for release in the United States on March 8, 2019, Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel is directed by the writing/directing team of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck and also stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Lee Pace as Ronan, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, with Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, and Jude Law as Mar-Vell.
