“Jurassic Park Ride” Will Close At Universal Studios Hollywood

“Jurassic Park – The Ride” at Universal Studios Hollywood is officially on the endangered list.

An official announcement was made via press release and promotional video that the iconic ride would be shutting down on September 3, 2018 and will be transformed into the “Jurassic World Ride” scheduled to open in 2019.

The attraction will have enjoyed 22 years of thrilling guests by the time it closes later this year but Universal Studios Hollywood has decided to kick off the countdown by hosting the Jurassic Park 25th Anniversary Celebration this weekend. The celebration will involve a screening of Jurassic Park, live entertainment, costume contest, giveaways and more.

As of right now, there are no firm announcements of what changes will be made to the ride. According to the press release, “the new ride will pay homage to Jurassic Park and will reimagine this landmark film franchise for theme park guests.” Given the relatively short turnaround time between closing and reopening, it could be a safe bet to assume the ride will follow the same river adventure format, upgrade their mechanics/animatronics, and then add some new dinosaurs from the Jurassic World franchise, such as the Indominus Rex, Mosasaur (which, I know, is not technically a dinosaur) and perhaps the Endoraptor, which will be introduced in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

No announcements have been made as of yet concerning the future of the “Jurassic Park River Adventure” housed at Universal’s Islands Of Adventure in Orlando, Florida. Despite the differing name, the Orlando ride is almost entirely the same as the one in Hollywood, California and would be equally suitable for a similar update. Joel Armia Authentic Jersey
