My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness

Kabi Nagata’s My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness was not what I expected. The first few pages were hard but exciting to get through.  If it’s hard for me to read, it was even harder for her to live. Her story is raw, not sparing any graphic detail.  Few times does an author truly open up on this level of emotion with art that doesn’t hold back. The insight into a young woman with depression, confusion, and mental instability was new and interesting to me. Her life opened me up to new perceptions of how people act, and what they may be feeling inside. I was entertained and educated through each page, which the illustrations captured each emotion vividly.
