HBO’S WATCHMEN Pilot Taps Leftovers Director

Watchmen is both my favorite comic of all time and one of my favorite comic adapted films of all time.

Besides that weird Snyder ending, the film is perfect. It’s a frame for frame adaptation and no one could’ve done it besides Zack Snyder.

So when word came out last year that HBO was releasing a Watchmen series I was a bit apprehensive.

Then Damon Lindelof announced he was the showrunner and any fear I had gone out the window. Lindelof has run two of my all-time favorite shows of all time in Lost and The Leftovers.

This week word got out that Lindelof is bringing in Nicole Kassell to direct the first episode of his upcoming HBO series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Kassell previously worked on Lindelof’s other show, The Leftovers, and directed two episodes for him. Kassell will also be an executive producer on the series.

Watchmen will mark HBO’s first superhero series and one that looks to be mature or R-rated as well.

It is said that the show will be separate from the Snyder classic but it will still include Nite Owl, Silk Spectre, Comedian, Rorschach, Ozymandias, and Dr. Manhattan.

As soon as we get more details on the new series we’ll let you guys know.
