Netflix announced today that Marvel’s Daredevil Season 3 will air later this year!
Marvel announced that Joanne Whalley, known for the Edge of Darkness, has been cast in Marvel’s Daredevil Season 3 as Sister Maggie, a strong-willed nun who speaks her mind and cares deeply about Matt’s safety.
Whalley joins the returning cast that includes Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) and Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), and it has also been announced that Vincent D’Onofrio reprises his popular role as Wilson Fisk.
“We are big fans of Joanne’s work and are fortunate that someone of her caliber will be joining our already talented family,” said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Marvel’s Head of Television in a statement.
“Joanne is a rare talent and a terrific creative collaborator,” added Erik Oleson, the new showrunner for Marvel’s Daredevil Season 3, and executive producer. “Watching her bring her role to life has the writers all pinching ourselves.”
I can’t wait for season three, especially since it was announced that Kingpin would be making his return. Will the lackluster Iron Fist and Defenders, The Punisher finally put the Marvel series back on track? Jessica Jones is due to return in a couple months so I hope it keeps up on the trend.
You can watch the first two seasons of Daredevil on Netflix now.
