When Amazon first announced their reboot of Ben Edlund’s The Tick, it was described as a darker, grittier version of what we were familiar with. And upon the release of the first 6 episodes of season 1, I was not disappointed. The Amazon original version focused on the character Arthur Everest, who is an underdog accountant with zero powers. This gave the show a more realistic approach on a world where superheroes exist. It was funny and included a good storyline that made me genuinely interested in Arthur and The Tick’s relationship.
The next 6 episodes of Season 1 release today Friday, February 23, and give fans a better look at the fantasy side of The Tick universe, packed with crime fighting and comedy. The heroic duo are able to come together and battle evil-doers more than we saw in part 1 alongside some familiar characters. We also get to learn the secret of Tinfoil Kevin’s “Office”, so don’t miss out!
The Tick has been confirmed for a 2nd season, with 10 episodes, expected to come out in 2019. Production begins later this year. Peter Serafinowicz (The Tick) and Griffin Newman (Arthur Everest) will return in the second season along with some additonal casting to be announced. Watch the video below to see what Serafinowicz and Newman have to say about their experience on the set of The Tick.
