Ridley Scott In Talks To Direct Disney’s THE MERLIN SAGA

Ridley Scott is in talks to direct The Merlin Saga for Disney.

The feature, based on the T.A. Barron book series, will follow the legendary wizard long before he met King Arthur and his round table.

Veteran fantasy scripter Philippa Boyens, who was a co-writer on Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings movies, is set to pen the feature.

T.A. Barron’s Merlin Saga follows the “adventures and training of young Merlin on the mist-shrouded isle of Fincayra, an enchanted land between earth and sky that is being destroyed by blight. With this land’s inhabitants to guide him, the boy will learn that Fincayra’s fate and his own quest are strangely intertwined.”

This is the second Merlin adapted story Disney has in development. Scott actually met with them last year to discuss their SWORD IN THE STONE live-action adaptation.

It’ll be interesting to see how Scott works under the Disney name. Maybe it’ll help get more Alien films going since Disney did purchase Fox late last year.
