Pacific Rim Aftermath Comic Available Today – Featuring John Boyega Character, Jake Pentecost and the Return of Hannibal Chau!

As the excitement builds for the premiere of Legendary and Universal Pictures’ Pacific Rim Uprising, in theaters March 23rd, fans will get an early glimpse at this captivating action universe once again in a new comic series entitledPacific Rim Aftermath, launching in comic stores and online today from Legendary Comics. Building off the global success of 2013’s Pacific Rim, this new comic series delves into what happened after Stacker Pentecost and the heroes of the PPDC “canceled the apocalypse.”

Pacific Rim Aftermath is a six-part comic book prologue set nine years after the original 2013 Pacific Rim film — and one year before the upcoming film. The Aftermath series follows Jake as he searches for the truth behind the death of his father, Stacker Pentecost, and introduces Griffin, a former Jaeger pilot who now works as an enforcer for a corrupt mob boss, as well as a mysterious criminal figure called the Mech Czar, who rules the underworld with a steel fist. With an emotionally charged narrative that paves the way for what is ahead in the new film, fans will discover new revelations that point to the future of the Pacific Rim universe.

The series was penned by comics writer Cavan Scott (Star Wars: Adventures, Doctor Who: The Lost Dimension), with art by Richard Elson (The Amazing Spiderman: Dying Wish, Wolverine: Savage). Aftermath’s storyline also benefitted from special collaborations with Steven S. DeKnight, the writer and director of Pacific Rim Uprising as well as the film’s star and producer John Boyega (Star Wars: The Last Jedi).

“I’m a huge comics fan, so having the chance to collaborate with the talented artist and writers on this series has been a rewarding one. The art and the storyline are top notch, expanding upon my character Jake Pentecost in a way that seamlessly connects the dots between the first film and Uprising. There’s action, story, heart and a few big surprises I can’t wait for you to experience.” stated Boyega.

Pacific Rim Uprising writer / director Steven S. DeKnight shares that excitement to get the new series in fans’ hands, “The Pacific Rim universe is so epic in scale, it’s only fitting that we expand the story of Pacific Rim Uprising with this whole new storyline. Working on the new film has been a labor of love, and as a comic book fan myself I can’t think of a better way to set the stage for the new film.”

The first issue of Pacific Rim Aftermath is now available in stores and online TODAY.
