More Than 1000 Citizen In Peru Named After Cardcaptor Sakura Characters

Cardcaptor Sakura is so popular in Peru that Peruvian babies were named after this anime series characters, its national identity registration office confirmed to Otaku Press blog. More than 1000 citizen in this country share names and last names with Cardcaptor Sakura characters. The new anime series will air in Japan in January 2018.

In Peru, 388 girls are named Sakura, and is the last name of five people. Syaoran, main male character in the manga, is the name of four Peruvian boys, adding 37 Shaoran (note the ‘h’).
Meiling with 283 being given the name, and Meilin with 262.  Yukito is the name of 3 people.Also, 107 have been named after Yue, the moon guardian. And two people have this last name.  Kero is the name of one citizen, and four get that last name.

The greatest magician Clow, fictional character in Clamp’s anime, is the name of one Peruvian, and the last name of other. Last but not least: five girls have been named after Akiho, the new character in Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card.

None Peruvian people are named after Tomoyo, Eriol or Kerberos.
