STAR WARS: Boba Fett Spin-Off Looks To Still Be Happening!

The “Star Wars” film slate is surprisingly robust at the moment. There’s Rian Johnson’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” this week, Ron Howard’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story” in 2018, J.J. Abrams’ ‘Episode IX’ in 2019, Stephen Daldry’s Obi-Wan Kenobi film likely in 2020, and Johnson’s first of a new trilogy films shortly after.

Still ticking away in active development though is the Boba Fett film, with a report today from Omega Underground indicating that the film is going by the working title of “Tin Can”. No production date has been listed, but the film is expected to shoot partly at Pinewood Studios in England.

Kathleen Kennedy and Lawrence Kasdan are listed as the producers, as now is Simon Kinberg according to the report. Additionally the production company listed is Stannum 50 Labs (Stannum is ‘tin’ and 50 is its atomic weight). Back when Josh Trank was slated to do a spin-off, his take used the same working title and production company.

No director is set, though Kennedy has been publicly praising “Thor: Ragnarok” director Taika Waititi and seems open to the idea of him doing a “Star Wars” film. Waititi, however, works very much to his own rhythm like Phil Lord & Chris Miller do so the pairing may not be a good one.
