WARNING! This article will contain spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. You have been warned.
The social media team for Digital Sputnik may have just confirmed a classic trilogy character will be returning for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Who’s Digital Sputnik, you ask? They are a Hollywood lighting company that has worked on such movies as Rogue One, Independence Day: Resurgence, and Pacific Rim: Uprising. They are also, obviously the lighting company used for The Last Jedi too. On their Facebook page, a member of their social media team let the spoiler slip.
While posting an update on one of their latest projects the Biblical epic, Mary Magdalene the company offered a humble brag. “We’ve just realized we have illuminated Jesus AND Yoda,” The company didn’t realize this was a major spoiler as this was up for over 15 hours. Whoever is running their Facebook may just be a casual fan. The last time we heard anything from Yoda was in a short soundbite in The Force Awakens in Rey’s vision. Many have speculated that Yoda would return for this film but it was never confirmed until now. This will probably serve as a major story point in the film as the character may return as a Force Ghost. This is mounting evidence that director, Rian Johnson may have big plans for the Jedi Master.
The Last Jedi could challenge our belief in the Jedi Order and one of Luke’s old Master’s making a cameo would be a huge surprise. Could Yoda be appearing to Luke because he’s hesitant to train Rey? Luke is still suffering from failing his nephew, Ben Solo and holds himself responsible for not seeing the Darkside of the Force building in young Ben. It’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out, and it would be fascinating to see Luke and Yoda together again after all these years.
