Now that Star Wars: The Last Jedi is out in theaters, in 5 months the fans will be treated to their 2nd anthology film, with Solo: A Star Wars Story. As the title reveals this movie will be telling the story of Han Solo, and how he came to the dashing smuggler that the fans know and love.
The details of the film have been scarce, but in the newest issue of Empire Magazine, it sheds light on the young hero- who may not be quite what we expect.
When the fans meet young Han, who is being played by 28-year-old actor Alden Ehrenreich, he’s actually not quite as the rogue who made his debut in Star Wars in 1977. And according to screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan, the film is going to answer what got Han “hardened up.” “This is the story of a world-weary wiseass in waiting,” the Star Wars veteran said. But some of that will likely involve and include Han’s mentor, Woody Harrelson’s Beckett, and his eventual meetings with Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian, who is being played by Donald Glover.
This film has endured a rocky production. Starting with Phil Lord and Chris Miller getting fired in June by Lucasfilm over “creative differences.” Then Ron Howard was brought into oversee the last of what needed to be filmed, and then ended up reshooting more of the film then he was indenting to reshoot.
The film is getting released May 25th, 2018. And hopefully, it is a good Star Wars film.
