For those that don’t know, Jason David Frank‘s home state of Texas was affected by the hurricane earlier this year as were so many other places such as Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Louisiana, just to name a few. Over 13 million people have felt the ramifications of this natural disaster and many homes were lost.
If you’ve ever met Jason David Frank in person then you know how uplifting and charitable the man is regardless of rumors you may have heard and now he wants to give back by uniting the original team of Power Rangers for a charitable event. When THS spoke to JDF in New York Comic-Con we asked if he was interested in doing a panel with his former co-star Austin St. John at next years Power Morphicon, and here’s what Frank had to say:
“I would love to do that, but I would love to raise money for charity. I really would. I told all the original guys can we just do one big Q and A and charge at the door and 100 percent of that money, if it’s a dollar or 10 dollars, will go to a charity that’s needed. If it’s Puerto Rico. If it’s Texas. My city got wiped out.I am in Kingwood (Texas). It got wiped out. Houses, and Restaurants. Just pick something. It’s not about the money, it’s not about, hey, we are doing a Photos, let’s charge 200 dollars. It’s like hey let’s do a group photo-op. I would not feel bad charging $300 dollars for a charity. I would if I was charging $300. I don’t want to do that.”
The last time the original Rangers were reunited, minus Thuy Trang, who sadly passed away in 2001, was at the premiere of the Power Rangers Movie earlier this year, but there wasn’t any fan interaction or panel with them. Seeing all of the original Power Rangers doing a Q&A and photo opp would be a great experience for any longtime fan and having donations go to charity is even better. Where should something like this take place you might be asking yourself. Well, we can’t think of a better place to have it then Power Morphicon 2018!
Tickets for Power Morphicon are currently on sale now and will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center on August 17-19, 2018.
