EXCLUSIVE: Is Bruce Wayne Coming to DC’s TITANS TV Show?

Once again, we’re back with more exclusive character breakdowns for Titans, the upcoming live-action Teen Titans series debuting on DC’s still-untitled streaming service. And once again, we’ve got another potentially huge reveal for you. We’ve got two breakdowns to share with you this time around that we think go hand-in-hand, but to be completely honest, we’re not 100% sure about one of them.

Let’s start with the breakdown we can call for sure:

[YOUNG JOHN CROSSLAND]Male, Caucasian, To play 10-13, athletic, lean, approximately 5’0″ and not afraid of heights.  Please list height on submission.  RECURRING GUEST STAR

This, as the note about heights indicates, is a breakdown for a young Dick Grayson, who you all will remember was a circus acrobat before his parents were killed and he was adopted by Bruce Wayne. While Batman’s origins have been portrayed on screen ad nauseam, we’ve only seen Dick’s origins in live action once, in the hilariously awful Batman Forever. Hopefully, Titans will do a better job.

There’s an important question raised by the fact that Titans will be flashing back to Dick’s childhood: will we actually see Bruce on the show? Could we even see Batman and Robin in action together? We have no idea, but the possibilities are exciting to consider, and they lead us to our second breakdown.

Here it is:

[DAVE STORY]Male, mid 30s-40s, Caucasian.  The downfalls of others only make this man stronger. Polished. Unwavering.  Think a young Jack Nicholson.  RECURRING GUEST STAR.

As I mentioned, we’re not totally confident about who this character might be, but the current consensus around Hashtag HQ is that this is a breakdown for Bruce Wayne himself. Think about it; the description of the character as polished, unwavering, and a young Jack Nicholson calls to mind the slicker portrayal that Christian Bale brought to Bruce’s public-facing persona in the Dark Knight trilogy. And the deaths of his parents, tragic as it is, certainly made Bruce stronger. Unfortunately, there’s not enough specific detail to say with complete certainty that this breakdown is for Bruce, but given that we’re going to see Nightwing’s past, it makes sense that Bruce would make an appearance.

And there you have it, folks. Exciting right? Even if “Dave Story” doesn’t turn out to be Bruce, the chance to see Dick’s origin done well in live action is more than enough to kick the hype engine into gear. Are you as excited as I am by these new additions to Titans’ cast? Have any other theories about who “Story” might be? Let us know in the comments.
