DISNEYLAND: Sneek Peak At Millenium Falcon Ride Coming To Star Wars Land

That galaxy far, far away just got a little bit closer thanks to a major teaser from Disney Parks.

The official Twitter feed for Disney’s parks and resorts sent “Star Wars” fans everywhere into a frenzy when they shared the very first photo of the brand new Millennium Falcon attraction, which will debut as part of the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge park in 2019.

The photo shows what appears to be the corridor leading to the ship’s cockpit, which some are speculating could be part of the queue line for a ride that will take place in the cockpit itself. Early concept art does, in fact, show riders piloting the Millennium Falcon.

Echoing Han Solo’s dialogue upon entering the Millennium Falcon in “The Force Awakens,” Disney tweeted simply, “We’re home,” accompanied by a promise that fans could find out more about the attraction (and about Galaxy’s Edge in general) at this weekend’s Galactic Nights event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The special event will feature a slew of “Star Wars” experiences, from character encounters to scavenger hunts and shows, but will also include a one-night-only panel discussion about the upcoming Star Wars theme park. The panel will highlight executives and creatives from both Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm, and will give fans an inside look into the process of creating the new 14-acre park expansion.

Although we don’t have many details yet about how this small glimpse at the Millennium Falcon will fit into the larger picture, it’s safe to say that this weekend’s panel will give fans even more of a taste of what’s to come.

So far, fans can look forward to an incredibly immersive experience on a remote outpost of a planet called Batuu, with rides, restaurants, shops and a galactic atmosphere fit for any Jedi in training. Guests’ performance on the park’s rides will help build a reputation while they remain on property, meaning guests should strive to pilot the Millennium Falcon well in order to succeed at Galaxy’s Edge.

Disney has even unveiled plans for an interactive “Star Wars” hotel that will likely open around the same time as the park, and will allow fans to enter into the Star Wars universe like never before.

While this weekend’s newest film installment of the franchise might hold us over for now, we’ll certainly be counting the days until we can experience our favorite locations and characters first-hand at Disney.
