Is Disney expecting a box office bomb on their hands with the upcoming Solo standalone film? That’s the rumor going around on all the Entertainment and geek pop culture sites today.
According to the rumor being perpetuated by a “Disney insider” via Screen Geek, Disney is allegedly preparing itself for the worst.
Disney is bracing themselves for the Han Solo movie to bomb. They were worried about it before all The Last Jedi controversy, but now they’re essentially writing Solo off. The lead actor, Alden Ehrenreich, can’t act, and they had a dialogue coach on hand for all of his scenes. On top of that, the script is unworkable. It’s going to be a car crash.
The article goes on saying that director Ron Howard had to have extensive re-shoots after the exits of Phil Miller and Chris Lord midway through production. Part of the blame is being shifted to lead Alden Ehrenreich, who sources claim isn’t impressing Lucasfilm with his acting abilities.
With the fan backlash on the Last Jedi, it makes sense that Disney is cautious and nervous for the upcoming release. Could Disney be concerned that the negative feedback from The Last Jedi will affect the future box office take and will affect the franchise going forward? It’s possible. But come on, it’s doubtful.
