Ever wonder what it would be like to have a cocktail on either the DeathStar or Starkiller Base? Well worry not, The DarkSide Bar is here to fulfill all your Empire needs.
Located inside the TCL Chinese theater, The Dark Side Bar (6925 Hollywood Blvd, 3rd floor), which also has locations in New York City and Washington, D.C., invites visitors to experience the “unequivocally macabre environment” for a limited time. Depending on when you go, you may encounter a burlesque show with dancers from other planets, trivia nights, alien speed dating, intergalactic dance parties, and immersive adventure games. Check the bar’s Facebook page for a list of upcoming events.
The bar will serve up six costume cocktails, all with playful names like Red Force, Blue Force, The Imperial, The Dark Side, the Galaxy and the Mindtrick. Out of the bunch, hands down the Red Force was the best to for us, imagine a watermelon Jolly Rancher with plenty of vodka goodness, you know what any Sith would drink after a long duel of fates.
Don’t confuse this Star Wars-themed pop-up with Hollywood’s other Star Wars bar, the Scum & Villainy Cantina, now open permanently at 6377 Hollywood Blvd. That one was inspired by the Mos Eisley Cantina on Tattooine, while the Dark Side Bar has a distinctly villainous vibe. “No Rebel Scum Allowed” proclaimed Christina Matthews and the girls from Damn Good Shindig. I have to tell you what these amazing ladies pulled off in just 4 days is pretty damn impressive, MOST IMPRESSIVE. From past feats like a Tim Burton themed night( Not to confuse with BeetleHaus) to a Buffy themed re-imagining of The Bronze at this years Club Comic Con, if you need a “Geek/Nerd themed pop up” Damn Good Shindig are the designers to call.
Party-goers are encouraged to dress in costume, but it’s not required to enjoy a cocktail or two.
Reservations for the bar are $33 per person and include two signature cocktails. Walk ins are $40 per person.
The pop-up bars will be open until Jan. 14.
