REMY LaBEAU A.K.A GAMBIT played by Josh Holloway
IGN once ranked Gambit as the 65th Greatest Comic Book Hero of all time due to his swagger, charm, and dark past. He always met danger straight on, if that wasn’t evident by his romantic relationship with Rogue. Meant to make his first appearance in X-Men: The Last Stand, the character made his debut on the big screen in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. That film managed to take all these formidable mutants (Wolverine, Deadpool, Blob, Sabertooth), and make them into complete caricatures. Gambit was made to be the “comic relief” which was half-hearted at best. Due to Taylor Kitsch’s declaration that he would never do a comic book movie again it’s safe to say that he probably regretted taking the role the moment he had to utter; ”
“See, the only difference between a winner and a loser is character. Every man has a price to charge, and a price to pay. Yeah, I’ve paid mine in spades.”
Before Taylor took on the role, and before anyone knew it was actually Channing who had first dibs on the role back in 2006, the name that came out of fans’ mouth was….Josh Holloway.
Remember, we are skewing older here, and one still believes that the Gambit film may never see the light of day hence bye bye Channing Tatum. Of course this is the least realistic that the casting gets especially since Holloway has been largely out of the public eye since the ending of Lost. The actor is currently working on USA’s Colony.
