Ahead of the release of Episode 8: The Last Jedi, Driver has clarified why Kylo turned his back on legendary parents Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford); even killing the latter. In a chat with Entertainment Weekly, he revealed that Kylo – born Ben – felt left out when he felt that Leia and Han cared more about the Rebellion than him.
The bitterness that ensued eventually took over him completely. “I think the idea of someone whose parents are very much devoted to the cause, that’s something a lot of people could relate to, whether it be religion or politics or a business,” the actor said. “Not identifying with [that cause] yourself, I think can give someone a complex.
Driver told the US magazine: “From his perspective, what he’s done is hopeful. “If anything he has justice. I think he’s surprised by how he would feel after Han Solo. “He’s hoping for hope. He’s hoping for clarity.” There is much speculation over whether Kylo can return from the Dark Side, or even if Rey (Daisy Ridley) will join him.
