The Last Jedi is due in theaters in just a matter of weeks, and now new glimpses of Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and Poe (Oscar Isaac) can be seen. It’s only a 27-second clip, but it’s action-packed – opening with Finn uttering the iconic phrase, “May the Force be with you”. We also see Poe say, “That’s got a kick!” as he flies in space with BB-8, and get a new shot of Rey with a lightsaber. It’s the fourth TV spot overall, and the shortest yet.
The Last Jedi, directed by Rian Johnson, marks the middle point of the current Star Wars trilogy, which will conclude with JJ Abrams’ Episode 9 in 2019. After that, Lucasfilm shifts focus to an entirely new trilogy, confirmed earlier this week, with Johnson back at the helm. A statement read: “For director Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi was just the beginning of his journey in a galaxy far, far away.
“Lucasfilm is excited to announce that Johnson will create a brand-new Star Wars trilogy, the first of which he is also set to write and direct, with longtime collaborator Ram Bergman onboard to produce. In shepherding this new trilogy, which is separate from the episodic Skywalker saga, Johnson will introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored.”
