Harry Potter Augmented Reality Game Coming From Pokemon Go Developer

The announcement comes after almost a year of rumors that Niantic was working on a game based in the Harry Potter universe. Not much is known about the game right now. The official description on the website states:

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite uses state-of-the-art augmented reality technology to reveal the magic all around us. Explore real-world neighbourhoods and cities to discover mysterious artifacts, learn to cast spells, and encounter legendary beasts and iconic characters along the way!

So, there’s not much to go on. I think it’s safe to speculate that we’ll see Dementors, Hippogryphs, and various other creatures seen in Fantastic Beasts, in addition to Patronus spells and other various offensive and defensive spells. The only question is will people drop off of this game the same way they did with Pokemon Go. After the shiny wore off people dropped like flies and the game’s user base took some heavy losses.

Hopefully, Niantic has learned from some of their mistakes and this new game won’t suffer from the same growing pains they had with Pokemon Go. You can visit the official site to sign up for updates on the game as they are released.

So what do you guys think? What would you like to see in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite?
