Reported by Comicbook.com, The popular Disney XD show, Star vs The Forces of Evil, has just introduced a male princess. The character’s name is Marco Diaz, but the name of the princess he disguised himself as is Princess Turdina. In the episode, Marco has to help save the students of St. Olga’s Reform School for Wayward Princesses from the evil headmistress, Ms. Heinous. So as Marco is about to reveal the truth to the students, Ms. Heinous storms in and pull down his shirt, revealing that Princess Turdina has chest hair.
Now instead of the students discrediting Marco, this reveal encouraged the students to support him. And with the princesses supporting it declared that there is nothing wrong with boys being princesses and that “Turdina is a state of mine and that he can be a princess if he wants to”.
Now, this isn’t the first time this show has done something like this. Back in February, the show had a same-sex kiss scene that happens. And that scene was the first Disney property to have a same-sex kiss scene happen. But if you take out both of those scenes, Star vs the Forces of Evil is in itself groundbreaking. The show’s creator and executive producer Daron Nefcy is only the second woman to lead her own Disney animated show. She expressed her pride in her show and said, “Proud of the team for everything we do with the show! I know this is old news, but I wanted to share in case someone missed it.”
