September 2017 has more than plenty of games to choose from both in the triple AAA title regions and indie fanfare section. The end of summer games always have something to look forward to for entertainment in general, but video games specifically start to kerplunker down just in time for gift season. The rubric given comes in terms Of hype and initial thoughts only. I am not responsible for active gameplay ratings, so don’t shoot the messenger.
AAA titles for September
Destiny 2: Sep 6 – 7(XBOX, PC, PS4)
Naturally, we have to start with destiny 2. PC FPS junkies are frothing at the mouth to play as they were shutout completely from the first game. There have been critics that have stated that is more of the same thing. Others say it’s the best game ever. It’s a game that caters to a certain gamer for the most part. I myself will be getting this game just to see if I am the type of gamer.
Lego worlds: September 8 (Switch)
The switch continues to impress with its line up of games and it’s controllers. LEGOS on the switch seems like a match made in heaven. In this game you can build and create Lego stuff with other people. Open source is definitely the way to go for this game, minecraft is gonna have some competition.
Meta critic Prediction: 95/100 (because LEGO)
Dishonored: death of the outsider: September 15 (XBOX, PC, PS4)
DLC and sequel to the story of dishonored. It’s a continuation of the Kaldwin series, and it looks incredible. If you already own it, you are probably eyeing to grab it.
METROID: SAMUS RETURNS: SEPTEMBER 15 (3DS)
It feels like its been forever since we got a Samus game, I could be wrong. Based on the trailer it looks like its gonna give you a nostalgia trip of the early games, and a bit of a distance from the major Samus games youv’ve seen on console. If you are all about OG Samus, Its probably going to be up your alley.
Metacritic prediction: 72/100
MARVEL VS CAPCOM INFINITE: SPETEMBER 19th (PC, XBOX,PS4)
Oh buddy, another master fighting game to end all master fighting games…at least until next year. Marvel infinite, like all other marvel VS games will have some serious staying power. Going with a 2v2 set up rather than a 3v3, you will see the mechanics change a bit, but not by much. Playable characters include:
|Marvel characters||Capcom characters|
NBA2K18: September 19(PS3, PS4)
Another iteration of NBA 2K. Upgated graphics, stats…maybe a few updated mechanics and story lines. I’ll withhold my sports bias to accurately discuss the game. I’ts a story that takes you from the streets to the stadium. Lots of customization options, and probably a killer soundtrack. If you play sports games, this could be different from the last years iteration.
Hype: currently 6th trending on YouTube as of writing so ill use that metric
POKEMON GOLD AND SILVER: SEPTEMBER 22 (3DS)
It’s Pokemon. I don’t have to say much. Its a re-realease from the OG version in 99. It’s gonna be great, any questions? Here’s a refresher vid
Super NES classic and Sega Flashback: September 29th/September 22
The nostalgic consoles are being released during this time. I’ve heard stories of people literally getting punched in the face to own these things. Please be careful. don’t punch people, and enjoy the hell out of the 90’s.
Metacritic prediction: 95/100 (if they rate it)
Total War: Warhammer 2: SEPTEMBER 28TH (PC)
You know it’s gonna be good when WAR is in the title twice. The second iteration of this game is a lot of fun to play if you are a RTS player. After playing it at E3 this year, I can say that it’s pretty well done. Warhammer always seems to be downplayed in triple AAA titles, so hopefully Total War 2 will give it a boost.
Metacritic Prediction: 75/100
NOT SO TRIPLE AAA AND INDIE GAMES
Double Dragon IV – September 7th (Switch)
Staying true to the series, you get all the 16 bit goodness your dad had.
Divinity:original Sin II: September 15th(PC)
This kickstarted game has gotten incredible reviews and has a massive fan base for a game that isn’t considered AAA. It’s an RPG made for gamers, by gamers, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. The story is awesome, and everything in the world is awesome now that this is coming out. Please do not skip this game. kickstarter is here if you want more
CUPHEAD: September 29th (XBOX. PC)
The wait is finally over: CUPHEAD is coming to PC. This game has been around the block for the last couple years. hand drawn bad guy platformer that looks like old school Disney characters?
I HAVE BEEN ASKING YOU TO TAKE MY MONEY FOR YEARS, STUDIO MDHR! WHY DO YOU REJECT ME?!
Metacritic prediction: infinite/100
Honorable mention: Garbage games
Raiders of The Broken Planet: September 22 (XBOX)
Just don’t do it. I played this game at E3. I can never get that 10 minutes of my life back and I hate myself for it. A third person shooter with terrible gameplay, awful mechanics, awful, needlessly offensive voiceover work, and a main character who’s basically a try hard bad ass version of the doc from back to the future. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. If you find yourself somehow interested in this hot mess gameplay is below.
