I wouldn’t be surprised if one day Blizzard opened up their own theme park, complete with an Escape the Zerg rollercoaster and Murloc Madness kiddie park . After all, they hold their own convention each year celebrating their much loved games and now they just announced the opening of their own esports arena in Los Angeles. You heard that right, Blizzard now has their own custom designed venue located in Burbank, California and I can’t wait to see what it holds.
You don’t have to wait long to experienced Blizzard’s new arena because they already have Hearthstone esports and Overwatch esports scheduled for this year. The grand opening will kick off during the weekend of October 7-8 for the Overwatch Contender Playoffs where the top teams from Europe and North America will compete on the center stage. You can already purchase tickets for the event, starting at $15 for one day and $25 for both days. And shortly after on October 13, the Summer Championship for the Hearthstone Championship Tour with the final players set to be entered into the Hearthstone World Championship in 2018. Tickets available now, $15 for one day or $40 for all the whole weekend.
As of now, Blizzard has not released any photos of what the arena will look like but we can expect it to hold about 450 spectatorsm, which doesn’t seem like a lot for a Blizzard event. As a fan I am very pleased by this news, and I definitely plan on attending the opening weekend for the Overwatch Contender Playoffs! You can find me at the Blizzard giftshop they’ll have on site, buying up all the pachimaris in sight!
