Live Action ‘The Jetsons’ In Development for ABC

Robert Zemeckis of Back to the Future fame is executive producing a live action reboot of Hanna Barbera’s 60’s animated sitcom, The Jetsons. Currently only ordered to pilot, this new version will be written by Gary Janetti who has experience in both Animated and live action TV, having worked on Family Guy and Will and Grace, like the original, it will take place 100 years in the future.

There’s no word yet on cast or how the show will handle the Jetson’s pet dog Astro or their robotic maid, Rosie. I just hope they finally answer why the buildings are all in the sky. Did global warming turn earth into a giant ocean? Is there a layer of smog hovering just over the ground? Maybe the earth is a post apocalyptic wasteland inhabited by the mutated populous that was left behind . . . that could also potentially explain why Astro can talk.

For a glimpse of what it could potentially look like, here’s a video produced by Technology company Arconic and Justin Lin about what life could look like in 2062.

Who do you guys see as the perfect cast? Let me know in the comments!
