Jack Thorne to Pen ‘Episode IX’
The Hollywood Reporter just reported that Star Wars: Episode IX has found a new writer. Jack Thorne, who penned the upcoming film, Wonder – starring Julia Roberts & Jacob Tremblay – will be rewriting the next film of the Star Wars saga.
The most recent draft of the script was written by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly. The two have previously worked together on Jurassic World, as well as the upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Connolly also penned Kong: Skull Island. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the writing duo were working off a treatment from Rian Johnson, who recently wrote and directed Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Trevorrow is still set to direct the ninth installment.
Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac are expected to return – but you never know who a Star Wars movie may kill off so don’t get too comfortable – with the installment eyeing a production start in January 2018.
With ‘The Last Jedi’ still set to release this winter, there’s still no telling where the story may lead.
While it’s normal for changes to occur in the developmental stages of a film, the franchise has been the spotlight of news lately – most notably with the recent addition of Ron Howard taking over directorial duties for the upcoming Han Solo film.
Star Wars: Episode IX is set to release on May 24, 2019.
