This Means Something . . . But WHAT?!? {UPDATED}

Earlier today Sony posted this video to their YouTube Channel:

Fans of classic Sci-Fi will immediately recognize the phrase uttered by Richard Dreyfus in Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Watching the video, which portrays a “close encounter” between two flying objects via RADAR, one a plane, the other a UFO. Those familiar with the film will also recognize the voice over and frames from the movie inserted into the video as well. The end of the video directs viewers to https://www.wearestillnotalone.com. Going to this site asks visitors to sign up for UFO updates and the pages title is “Close Encounters.”

So, what does all of this mean exactly? The original film came out on November 16th, 1977 which means we are rapidly approaching it’s 40th Anniversary. I think it’s easy to deduce that Sony has something special planned for the big day. Is it going to be back in theaters? A special Blu-Ray release maybe? I’m not sure exactly, but I’m excited to see what it is.

UPDATE: Variety has confirmed that Sony is planning to release the movie back into theaters for a week starting on September 1st.

If you’re not familiar with the movie or just want to watch it again, here’s the original trailer:
