EXCLUSIVE: A Second Symbiote Host Set To Appear In Sony’s VENOM Spin-Off

Sony’s Marvel Universe is coming together quickly and production on their first entry, Venom, is set to begin in the fall. With Tom Hardy in place as Eddie Brock and rumors of Carnage swirling around the web, the other pieces of the cast will start to fall into place rather quickly. We can confirm that one of those pieces is going to be a familiar name for fans of Eddie Brock: Ann Weying, his ex-wife and a temporary host for the symbiote at one point.

ANNIE -In the comic books she is a DA, but Open said could be altering her profession.Venom’s love interest.

Ann was a lawyer in the comics but Sony has not yet committed to her back story for the film. The studio, working with a new script from Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, is looking to cast an actress in the range of 25-32, so a few years younger than Hardy, to play the role of Ann. In the comics, Ann was shot by one the characters who took the name Sin-Eater, only to have her life saved by the symbiote. It set off a series of events that lead to her depression and suicide.

It’s unclear what the plot of the film is, but we expect the symbiote to be the Ultimate version which was a bio suit co-created by the fathers of Eddie Brock and Peter Parker. Given the casting of Hardy in the lead role, it’s likely that they may play up some of Brock’s insanity giving Hardy a chance to show some range and do what he does best.

Who would you like to see cast in the role of Ann Weying? Given Sony’s desire to make this an R-rated film, do you think they will explore some of the mature material surrounding mental illness, depression, and suicide?
