Production for season three of Supergirl is well underway and That Hashtag Show has casting details that paint a picture on what the Girl of Steel faces in the upcoming season.
Under new leadership in showrunners Jessica Queller and Robert Rovener, Kara Danvers looks like she’ll trade in going toe-to-toe with Cadmus and her boyfriend’s evil alien parents and rather, face off against a conglomerate looking to wreak havoc in National City.
Business tycoon Morgan Edge was previously announced as the season’s main antagonist, but now we have exclusive details on some of Edge’s cronies and co-antagonists for the show. Edge — who is portrayed by Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. alum Adrian Pasdar — will be enlisting the help of none other long-time Superman villain Bloodsport.
While Bloodsport is a mantle taken up by three different people in DC Comics lore, the version on Supergirl will be that of Robert DuBois. As the casting reads, DuBois is an “ex-military man who has infiltrated his former base and stolen a variety of articles that he uses to cloak an underwater nuclear device.”
And it most certainly wouldn’t be a Supergirl show without some evil metahumans to take down, right?
Enter Psi and Reign.
Psi was created by Paul Kupperberg and Carmine Infantino and first appeared in Daring New Adventures of Supergirl #1 (1982). Needless to say, she’s been around from the get go. The character is known for her psychic abilities that allow her to bring her victim’s darkest fears to life.
While there isn’t a character in the DC Comics mythos with the name of Samantha March, there is a Kryptonian that goes by the name of Reign. This version of Reign is a Worldkiller, a biological weapon created by the Kryptonian Science Council.
In the comics, the Kryptonian Science Council eventually outlawed the Worldkillers and ordered their destruction. However in Supergirl, Reign could most certainly be the character that put into a space pod and shipped off Krypton before the planet’s demise in last season’s finale.
Thanks to the casting call for March’s daughter Ruby, it appears that Reign will be portrayed by Odette Annable of House fame.
