Blizzard’s Overwatch is insanely popular, and reaching its now one-year anniversary on the 24th, is still growing strong. With the increasing fan base and players, more demands are asked of the game developers and, as they always have with Overwatch, they are planning to deliver.
Part of Overwatch’s fandom is saving highlight features. This is an option that happens when you do spectacularly well as a character, get a Play of the Game or Play of the Match. They’re saved to your highlights menu option where you can access them, record and save them, and upload later to show off your mad skillz. Unfortunately, you need the right equipment to record and they do disappear if you accidentally close the window out to play Overwatch or rage quit like some of us do .. (not me!)
Jeff Kaplan, director of Overwatch, assures players that the save/export feature for highlights is the current focus of their “strike team” and changes will be rolled out soon. “The team is working extremely hard on this and has been for months. Expect more details early this summer,” Kaplan said.
Kaplan has also addressed other topics, as can be seen in the Overwatch forums. A highly rumored “Gun Game-Type mode” is being considered. Updates to characters such as Sombra, having a new emote for her. Kill feed, the option you can toggle on/off at the top right of your game, shows who killed who, and with what move (normal or ult.) They are considering changes for that, so those who assist with the kill will be also shown in the kill feed. Orisa has also experienced some changes and they’re testing that in the PTR at the moment to balance her character.
And finally, competitive season 4 is coming to an end in late May, and introducing competitive season 5 in early June. Good luck heroes. Battle.net Forum link here.
