Live Auction of original artwork featuring classic animation from Akira to The Simpsons

If I had an extra few thousand dollars of disposable income, I know where I’d be spending it. Coming up on June 9th Ebay is hosting a live auction of over 700 items from the world of Geek Pop Culture. The sale features icons such as Akira, Super Friends, The Simpsons,Heavy Metal, Ralph Bakshi’s Lord of the Rings, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Yellow Submarine, Looney Toons, and many, many more.  I’m a huge fan of Ralph Bakshi’s animated films and Who Framed Roger Rabbit is one of my favorite (sorta) Disney movies.

Featured items include:

* Original artwork featuring Jessica Rabbit, Scooby Do & Shaggy, Speedy Gonzalez, Scrooge McDuck

* Production cels depicting seminal characters such as Taarna from the cult classic Heavy Metal (1981); Tetsuo from Katsuhiro Otomo¹s Akira (1988); and Captain Kirk and Spock from Star Trek: The Animated Series (1973)

* An extremely rare 1987 production cel of the early Marge Simpson from The Tracy Ullman Show, before The Simpsons began

* A set of original Don Rico signed art for an unpublished The 6 Million Dollar Man comic strip (c. 1977)
