The world can’t get enough of Deadpool or enough chimichangas for Deadpool. Or Donald Glover. So let’s combine them.
FXX has ordered 10 episodes of a Marvel Television/FX Productions/ABC Signature Studios co-production show that features Deadpool in an animated adult action-comedy.
The executive producers, showrunners, and writers are brothers Donald Glover and Stephen Glover. Donald known as Childish Gambino in his music career, Troy in Community, and up-and-coming young Lando in the Han Solo anthology will be co-winging this machine with his brother, Stephen, who is a writer for Atlanta, another comedy show on FXX.
Serving alongside the Glover brothers is Marvel’s Jim Chory and Jeph Loeb, who will be EPs on the series.
After the success of Atlanta and Legion, FXX is excited to have another comedy and pairing it with a Marvel show. Nick Grad, president of FX networks, stated “with the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.”
I wonder how this affects a future of Donald Glover playing the new Spiderman, Miles Morales. Can fans still expect that to happen although he has his hand in a Deadpool series? Does this further confirm he is in the Marvel Universe to some degree, besides an unknown character in Spiderman: Homecoming?
The series is aimed to debut in 2018.
