BLACK CAT AND SILVER SABLE Gets A New Title And Lands A Director

Spider-Man may be entering the Marvel cinematic¬†universe, but Sony still has superheroes on their slate that they feel can make the studio good money. The Sony Pictures superheroes are all spin-offs of Spider-Man but will be unrelated to Tom Holland’s wall-crawler. Two of those heroes will be Black Cat and Silver Sable and it looks like they have found their director. Gina Prince-Bythewood will helm the project, and while her name may not be familiar to you, she is no stranger to the world of superheroes, or even Marvel superheroes, after recently taking the helm of the Cloak & Dagger pilot.

The movie has been given the title Silver & Black and the script by Christopher Yost (Thor: The Dark World) will be rewritten by Prince-Bythewood. Story details have yet to be disclosed, but the title is very catchy. Prince-Blythewood joins the number of growing female directors to be chosen to helm a superhero film with a female lead. Black Cat and Silver Sable make for an interesting duo, but without Spider-Man and no ties to the MCU we’re not sure if audiences will accept Silver and Black. We’ll just have to wait and see.
