GOTHAM CITY SIRENS: Bryce Dallas Howard Comments on Poison Ivy

One of the films attracting the most attention in the DCEU is Gotham City Sirens, directed by David Ayer.  This will be the follow up to Ayer’s blockbuster success, Suicide Squad, with Margot Robbie set to return as Harley Quinn, teaming up with yet to be cast Poison Ivy and Catwoman. With a recent tweet, it appears that Bryce Dallas Howard could be interested in playing the role of Poison Ivy in the upcoming super-villain movie.

A Twitter user asked Howard Saturday, “Would you be willing to play Poison Ivy” to which Howard replied, “She’s pretty badass.” Also included in the tweet was a muscle-flexing emoji and a GIF of Uma Thurman’s Poison Ivy from Batman & Robin, flirting with the caped crusader and boy wonder (George Clooney and Chris O’Donnell).

Following the success of Jurassic World, Howard would be bring a lot of star power to the Sirens. If she did end up pursuing the role, she would have a lot of competition, namely Jessica Chastain, who recently said she’s, ““interested in all things where the characters are strong and dynamic, and not stereotypes or objects,” and “if Poison Ivy happens to be that” to throw her “hat in the ring.” Other Hollywood heavyweights reportedly eyeing the role are Megan Fox and Mr. Robot‘s Stephanie Corneliussen.

Bryce Dallas Howard would be a solid contender for Poison Ivy. She already has the fiery red hair that would a natural choice for the role and the acting chops to go along with it. Howard will also have more than enough time to finish up on Jurassic World 2 directed by J.A. Bayona, but does the tweet mean that she’s genuinely interested in the role, or is she just doing what Poison Ivy does, and is playing coy with fans? We’ll just have to wait and see.
