DC COMICS: Fear works with Will in Hal Jordon and the Green Lantern Corps #18

I could care less about uniting the seven, let’s unite Green and Yellow Lanterns from here on in. That’s right! Something I wasn’t expecting, the corps’ are joining forces to police the entire universe. I always thought that the other lanterns, except Green, were evil. I stand corrected! It was a delightful detail to find out that all lanterns patrol the universe and gaining their power. Robert Venditti (X-O Manowar) and Dexter Vines (Iron Man and Absolute Superman/ Batman) fit perfectly for the tell of this new Unite.

Go ahead and get into a brief description:

“THE PRISM OF TIME” part one! The Green Lantern Corps has united with their once mortal enemies the Sinestro Corps, but there’s a storm brewing on the horizon as an enemy from the future arrives to rip the two apart. There will be no peace in this time.

YOU KNOW THE DRILL! Let’s get into Art. This is not only the first time being exposed to Dexter Vines illustrations but it’s also my first time I’ve every picked up Hal Jordan and The Green Lantern Corps. I wish I could over analyze how Kilowog looks but I can’t. What I will say is that the consistency, even during massive actions sequences, were dead on! The characters were easy to look at and in no way were cringe worthy. Good for Dexter Vine for caring enough about our Lanterns to put effort into this title.

Now, it’s time for some writing. The reason I choose to do this review is because I am no stranger to Robert Venditti’s work. I am a HUGE Valiant Comic’s X-O Manowar fan. So I wanted to see how he took on the Lantern Corp and he did not disappoint. You get to experience Hal Jordan, Jon Stewart, Kylie Rayner, and Guy Garner working together to unify peace with the Yellow Lanterns. You even get a little glimpse of what The Blue Lantern had up his sleeves. If anybody can handle a awesome Green Lantern story, it is Robert Venditti.

Overall, this was a great comic. Green Lantern Corps #18 had humor, it had all the lanterns you want to see were together, and really sets up for the story arc. Is this a good jumping off point? Yes, this is the perfect time to start picking up this comic. If you ever had an interest in the Green Lantern’s and how they patrol space. This is definitely the comic for you. Do I suggest picking it up? Yes, I’ve always known the lanterns to patrol the universe on their own terms so to see them work together is definitely a treat. Was this the best issue? I don’t know, I’ve never read this particular title till this review. But what I will say, this is one hell of an issue!
