Rumoured that Frank Oz had been visiting Pinewood Studios, it was, so we’re not surprised to hear that Yoda might be making an appearance in the upcoming The Last Jedi.
Yep, the man who famously voiced Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi has teased the return of everyone’s favourite Jedi master in a recent interview with Variety.
(Although we will admit he doesn’t really give anything of substance away.)
When asked about Yoda’s potential Episode VIII reprisal, Frank said: “I feel like I’m a prisoner at war here, and I can only give you my name, rank and serial number.
“To be true to the people who asked me, and they are kind of my family, I have to say I’ve been asked not to talk about it.”
Adding that he ‘loves’ Yoda, Frank did say that he would “be happy” to tell us more when he’s allowed to. So, erm, thanks for that one, Frank.
We still haven’t had more than a peek at Rian Johnson’s hotly-anticipated Star Wars: The Last Jedi so far, so forgive us for holding on to any little detail we get.
Which is exactly what we did when we caught wind of what appears to be the first line of the new film, revealed in footage shown to Disney stakeholders last week.
Picking up where The Force Awakens left off, Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker is said to ask Daisy Ridley’s Rey: “Who are you?”
Wondering what an Earth that could mean? Us too.
We hope to find out more at Star Wars Celebration next month from Orlando.
