THOR: RAGNAROK Will Be Different Than Civil War Says Director

For fans of Marvel Cosmic, the following should hit home.

If your recall back when Annihilation  first kicked off, it also occurred during Marvel’s big Civil War comic book storyline event that saw Avenger vs. Avenger and Captain America vs Iron Man.

While the Marvel heroes were bickering amongst one another on Earth, the Marvel Cosmic heroes were fighting the good fight, the fight for the very survival of the entire universe.

And that seems to apply to the MCU as well.

Following Captain America: Civil War, the MCU goes cosmic with Thor: Ragnarok as it will be set in space with very little to do with Earth (thank Eon). Director Taika Waititi offers up Thor 3 will be different than Captain America: Civil War, in that it’s cosmic.

“Sometimes I would stop and think, I’m doing a movie that’s got Thor and Doctor Strange and The Incredible Hulk and Loki and every character is so strange and different,” Waitit said, reports AV Club. “Civil War it’s just humans, humans with human problems. Ours is creatures and beings and all these sorts of really different characters. Again displaying human problems, but in outer space or in other worlds.”

Thor: Ragnarok also has more cosmic characters including Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster. Waititi also adds that Sam Neill’s Thor: Ragnarok mystery role is a good one.

“I don’t want to say too much about it, because it’s a really cool little thing that he’s doing,” Waititi said.

“Thor: Raganarok” has a November 3, 2017 release directed by Taika Waititi starring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk/Banner, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster,  Anthony Hopkins as Odin and Sam Neill in an unknown role.
