Director Corin Hardy to Direct ‘The Nun’

In an exclusive from Deadline, Director Corin Hardy has made it his sole mission to direct The Nun, a second spinoff movie to the hit film The Conjuring.

For those of you who are drawing a blank on The Nun, this character was featured in The Conjuring 2 as a menacing demonic presence (technically, the demon Valak) who spent the movie terrorizing Vera Farmiga’s Lorraine Warren. Although the character was added into The Conjuring 2 as a way to connect the Amityville murders with the Enfield case, no one could have ever expected the lasting impact the character had on audience members.

The Nun spinoff film will be focusing completely on the demonic character. I’m hoping it’ll focus more on the actual demon Valak and why exactly Valak is taking on the form of a nun instead of a little scary cherub baby from the legends.

The script was written by James Wan and Gary Dauberman. The film is also being produced by Wan and Peter Safran. There is no release date set for The Nun as of this time.

What do you think of this news? Do you think there should be a spinoff focused on The Nun character? Should they just leave that scary beastie alone? Let us know in the comments below.
