The night before the premiere of Netflix’s adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, they released the opening credits theme song and it is brilliantly dark and dry. It is also sung by Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) who is brilliant as always when it comes to his vocal stylings.
Netflix paired the video of the theme song with an exclusive message to all potential viewers of the show:
We present to you our opening credits, a phrase here which means last chance to turn off this unfortunate story and stream something more pleasant, as a final reminder that you have no obligation to stream this miserable tale.
With all due respect,
This has been a reoccurring theme with Netflix’s marketing team while promoting this series. The events that were are to witness are horrible and, if we were decent human beings, we would not watch the series and promote the suffering of these poor lost souls. We are implored to turn away.
Alas, I am not a decent human being so I shall continue watching the series. The question is, “Will you?”
