In an exclusive from The Guardian, Ben Affleck discussed the future of his directing the Batman solo movie. He is currently scheduled to act, direct, and write the film, but that doesn’t mean that he can’t step down at any moment. This prompts us to ask a question.
What could cause Ben Affleck not to direct this film?
Though the batman costume in the foyer is from Affleck’s caped crusader in Zack Snyder’s messy Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, word is that he will get to direct his own superhero movie, tentatively titled The Batman. “That’s the idea. But it’s not a set thing and there’s no script. If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great I’m not going to do it.”

This statement has definitely turned heads because much has been made about Ben Affleck directing the film. If Affleck pulls out as a director, what would that say about the quality of the Batman film? Since a script hasn’t been written yet, there is no reason yet to speculate on what could happen to the movie. However, this does mean that we will have to wait with bated breath to see what decision Affleck makes once he has a functioning script in his hands.
Depending on the decision, it may make or break the film.
The release date of the Batman solo film has not been determined yet, but Ben Affleck did state that there were thinking shooting should start this spring. We’ll keep you updated on further Batman related news.
