Ben Affleck will only producer and star in “The Batman”

Ben Affleck, prior to this announcement, said he would not be apart of a Batman Solo Movie “if” the script was not good. While he didn’t go back on his word, Affleck definitely took things in a interesting direction on a exclusive interview via Variety:

“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions,” Affleck said in a statement. “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”

This statement is hard to believe due to Affleck’s Directing and Acting skills in The Town. Hell, even in 2012’s Argo won several awards. Affleck has already shown to us how important The Batman is to him. Affleck even took the time to co-write the script with Geoff Johns, who could be considered one of the greatest comic writes of our generation. So why back down from the job of a lifetime if you put so much hard work into it?

Maybe Affleck doesnt want to direct after seeing the backlash Zach Synder got for Batman V Superman. Perfect example, look at what happened Josh Trank after a comic movie flop. Has he done anything since Fant4stic? On top of it, The DCEU is a giant mess! With questions behind their movie schedule (Wonder Woman, Justice League, Aquaman, etc.) due to twisting movie dates because of praised Characters from other movies. We’re soon to receive more information on the Gotham City Siren movie and a Deadshot Movie. It’s almost as if Warner Bros has Torrette’s. They just want to blurt out news to get people excited for no reason. The sad part is, to fans that don’t read comics, IT WORKS! Until the hardcore fans go to this see the movie and give it a 64%  on Rotten Tomatoes (Batman V Superman).

In The Long run, DCEU is a hot mess that can’t seem to find it’s footing. Maybe it’s time to bring the big guns in to save them and I’m sure that why Ben Affleck stepped back as director. Maybe Martin Scorsese could come in and do an amazing mob/ action version of The Batman. Just an idea to save Warner Bros, lord knows they need it.
