Principal photography on STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII wrapped up in July, but the release of film is still a year away. This obviously leaves quite a lengthy period of time for Lucasfilm/Disney to tease us with the further adventures of our new heroes, but when might we start to see some footage from the film?
BBC News reporter Lizo Mzimba recently spoke with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy at a ROGUE ONE event and asked that very question. Kennedy revealed that they were going to give ROGUE ONE some breathing room, but that we’ll be seeing some EPISODE VIII stuff “pretty soon”.
Unfortunately that “pretty soon” won’t arrive until next spring, not far off in the grand scheme of things I suppose, but still several months away. Kennedy also revealed that production on the UNTITLED HAN SOLO STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY FILM starring Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover and Emilia Clarke will get underway in February. Unlike ROGUE ONE, which mostly features all-new characters, the Han Solo film has a much tougher road ahead of it as Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will need to get us to accept someone other than Harrison Ford in the role of the lovable scoundrel, otherwise, the whole thing could easily fall apart.
STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII will hit theaters on December 15, 2017.
