A tale as old as time indeed…
Today Walt Disney Pictures revealed the teaser poster for the upcoming live-action version of Beauty and the Beast. They are definitely heavily promoting the most nostalgic scene from the original animated movie – the ballroom scene, the scene when we discover that the two main characters have fallen in love.
Beauty and the Beast stars Emma Watson (Belle), Dan Stevens (The Beast), Sir. Ian McKellen (Cogsworth), Luke Evans (Gaston), Josh Gad (LeFou), Kevin Kline (Maurice), Emma Thompson (Mrs. Potts), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Plumette), Ewan McGregor (Lumiere) and Stanley Tucci (Cadenza).
The film is directed by Bill Condon. Alan Menken is returning to the live-action film with three new songs written specifically for this production. He won two Academy Awards for writing music for the original animated film.
The official synopsis for the film is as follows:
Belle is a young woman who is taken prisoner by a Beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s exterior to recognize the true heart and soul of the human Prince within, just as a hunter named Gaston is on the loose to take Belle for himself and hunt down the Beast at any cost.
The live-action Beauty and the Beast will be released in theaters on March 17, 2017. Don’t forget to let us know what you think about the poster in the comments below.
