Last night the final trailer for Kong: Skull Island was released on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The trailer is full of exposition, cheesy homages to the 70s, and spoilers. Considering how blunt director Jordan Vogt-Roberts as been about wanting to re-define the monster movie genre, the spoilers that he put in there (hint: all the monsters) make a good amount of sense considering his stance.
The trailer, in my opinion, looks good. It isn’t taking itself too seriously and is, at many points, humerous. This I credit to John C. Reilly’s appearance. You can always depend on him to make scary situations better with comedy. All in all, I’d say it’s a pretty solid trailer if you’re looking for something entertaining.
The official synopsis for the movie is below:
A trip back to the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of apes, the new film follows a team of explorers who venture deep inside the treacherous, primordial island to find the leader’s brother and a mythical serum, confronting extraordinary creatures along the way.
Make you that you take a gander at the trailer below and let us know what you think. Kong: Skull Island will premiere in theaters on March 10, 2017.
