In an exclusive interview with The Wrap, Riz Ahmed to discuss his role in the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He also teased a bit about what to expect from the film. Riz Ahmed will be appearing in the film as Bodhi Rook, a cargo pilot who is projected to have conflicting loyalties as the film progresses.
The concept of loyalty is not a new one to the Star Wars universe and, considering the different tone and focus the Rogue One film takes, it is not surprising that there will be more of a grey area going forward. This is something Riz Ahmed touches on when asked how best to describe the film for potential viewers:
“The film is about complex characters and loyalties and murky pasts,” the actor said in an interview with TheWrap about his new movie, “City of Tiny Lights.” “The film is a little edgier, with people making these huge compromises. History isn’t always clear.”

The film has always given off the vibe of being very action heavy, with much of the scenes we’ve seen in trailers consisting of battle sequences. However, this film also has a very political feel to it, harking back to the prequel trilogy that we try to pretend didn’t happen. What has been very apparent is how conflicted everyone’s place is in the grand scheme of things. Considering you have a band of outlaws being charged with the task of stealing the plans to the Death Star, it would be safe to say that the film will be full of conflict and complexity.
Getting the extra confirmation from Riz Ahmed of the general tone of the film helps give us a better idea. Personally, I’m looking forward to an edgier, less family-friendly Star Wars film. Add in some overly complex characters and the Death Star and I’m good.
