Gotham Review – Fish Out Of Water (S03E02) – Spoilers

When we last left Gotham, young Bruce Wayne has been kidnapped by The Court of Owls. It turns out that was his plan all along to get captured to get confirmation that this was the group that had infiltrated Wayne Enterprises and was ultimately responsible for his parent’s deaths. He comes to offer them a deal, which they only agree to if he will stop investigating them any further. Seeing he has no choice, he reluctantly agrees to their terms.

Back at Wayne Manor, he and Alfred are discussing their next course of action when the Bruce Wayne clone barges in. Bruce is shocked to see there is another him. He asks for them to help him. We shall see where this leads.

Jim Gordon is still on the hunt for Fish Mooney and he has a friendly rivalry with Valerie Vale. They seem to think that Selina Kyle can lead them to Mooney.  They meet up with Barbara Keane at her new club, who plays mind games with Gordon before revealing the location of Selina Kyle.  Then Valerie Vale acts like she is ditching Gordon, but turns up at the GCPD. It is there that Gordon has a secret meeting with Lucious Fox who tips him off that Mooney has killed Hugo Strange’s assistance Miss Peabody. They reach the conclusion that her ultimate target is Hugo Strange as she seems to think he can cure her. They talk to Captain Barnes who reveals that Strange is being kept at a safe house.

Turns out I was right about Ivy getting a dose of the aging man’s powers, as she wakes up on a beach looking definitely mature for her age. She comes across a man who immediately seizes the opportunity to take her back to his house. He gets more than he bargains for when Ivy finds out he has not been treating his plants well. She is not happy about that and she kills him as a result, walking out of his house like nothing happened.

GOTHAM: L-R: Donal Logue and guest star Jada Pinkett Smith in the ÒMad City: Burn The WitchÓ episode of GOTHAM airing airing Monday, Sept. 26 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX. ©2016 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: Jeff Neumann/FOX.

Mooney captures Harvey Bullock so he can give her access to Hugo Strange. Under the influence of her powers, he gets her in. Hugo tries convincing Mooney he is unable to cure her, but she does not believe him. Meanwhile outside, Penguin has gathered a mob, and plans to use them to kill Mooney and her band of freaks. By the way, in this episode, one of the freaks looks like a member of the League of Shadows. Could Ra’s Al Ghul be coming in? That would be pretty cool.

Gordon sneaks into the safe house. He is captured and taken to Fish Mooney. He tells her he can offer her a way out. She gives him two minutes. He uses this time to betray her, telling Penguin if he meets them at the back of the house, he can have Mooney. Penguin finally gets his chance with Mooney, but first wants to know why she let him live. She emasculates him, which leads to him letting her go for some reason? That part confused me.

Gordon and Valerie have a powwow where they decide to work together, which leads to them making out. The episode ends with Lee, the former flame of Gordon, coming back to Gotham. That will not be weird at all if she finds out Gordon is with Vale.

My thought is Lee’s new lover is not who he seems to be. We are getting the Mad Hatter in the next episode so my theory is she is under his control. We shall find out if I am right!  This season seems very exciting so far, continuing the momentum from last season. Stay tuned next week for more exciting adventures in Gotham: Mad City!
