One of the most highly anticipated panels every Comic-Con is when Marvel Studios takes over Hall H. This year’s panel was no disappointment for fans of the comic book movie studio.
The panel kicked off with the cast of Black Panther appearing together for the first time. Fans were introduced to Chadwick Boseman’s character this spring in Captain America Civil War. He’ll be getting his solo flick on February 16, 2018 alongside Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Wyong’o and Danal Gurira. Ryan Coogler is set to direct the film.
Before fans are whisked away to Black Panther’s Wakanda, Marvel will return to Asgard to see what Thor and his friends have been up to since he returned at the conclusion of Avengers Age of Ultron. Star Chris Hemsworth is still shooting the movie on location in Australia but let fans in on what Thor has been up to. They were also treated to a sizzle reel giving a small taste of the movie. A new title treatment was also released with a wicked 80’s flair. Thor: Ragnarok will be released November 3, 2017.
Doctor Strange will be in the next hero introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During the panel fans were introduced to stars of the upcoming movie including Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejifor, Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen and Benedict Wong. Director Scott Derrickson was also on hand when fans were treated to a brand new trailer which you can see below. Doctor Strange will bring his magic into theaters November 4, 2016.
The latest man to don the Spidy suite also made an appearance at the panel. Tom Holland made his first Comic-Con appearance along with fellow cast members Zendaya, Jacob Battalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori and director Jon Watts. Fans are also treated to footage from the production. The web slinger returns in Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 7, 2017.
The Ravagers from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 stormed the panel to help Kevin Feige announce the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy- Mission: Breakout! attraction coming to Disney’s California Adventure theme park. The attraction will take over the location currently serving as the Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror in the park’s Hollywoodland. The returning stars of the film; Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker made an appearance and were joined by new comers Kurt Russell, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki and director James Gunn.
The final announcement of the panel was when actress Brie Larson was introduced as Captain Marvel, aka Carol Danvers. She’ll be getting her own action packed solo flick on March 8, 2019.
