Warner Bros. has finally announced the release date for director Roar Uthaug’s upcoming adaption of the popular video game series, Tomb Raider, which is set to star Alicia Vikander (Jason Bourne) as Lara Croft.
March 16, 2018 we’ll see the return to the big screen of one of the most iconic female video game heroines of all time, Lara Croft. Angelina Jolie played the original Tomb Raider back in 2001 and followed it up with a sequel in 2003. This film is going to be focused on the early adventures of a young Lara.
Back in April it was announced that Alicia Vikander nabbed the highly coveted lead role, though reports at the time indicated that Star Wars: The Force Awakens actress Daisy Ridley and Suicide Squad’s Cara Delevigne were also in the running.
Tomb Raider releases in theaters March 18, 2018.
