Fans of classic arcade games and new fans alike were delighted by the endearing story of Wreck-It Ralph, an arcade game villain that just wanted to be appreciated once in a while. The voice of Ralph himself, John C. Reilly along with the film makers of the movie have just announced the return of Ralph in an upcoming sequel. In the second installment Ralph will be wrecking the internet alongside his friend Vanellope Von Schweetz. Reilly will be returning to the role of Ralph while Sarah Silverman will be returning to voice Vanellope, the girl with the game-winning glitch.
“From the moment we started working on the first ‘Wreck-It Ralph,’ we knew there were so many possibilities with these characters,” said Director Rich Moore, who has recently celebrated success with the hit Zootopia. “This time, Ralph’s wrecking wreaks havoc on the Web—as only he can do. Characters we loved in the first film are back and we are ecstatic to be working with them—and the actors who voice them—once again.”
In the live Facebook announcement, Reilly professed his love for playing the character. “Ralph is a character very near and dear to my heart. I’m really looking forward to playing the big lug again. Making the first ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ was one of the most special experiences I’ve ever had and I’m really looking forward to bringing him back to life. So many kids I’ve met all over the world are excited to see him again, too. They tell me all the time!”
The movie won’t be hitting theaters until March 9, 2018 but fans of Wreck-It Ralph will not have to wait long to see their favorite character again. Disney also announced that as a celebration of the movie announcement, Ralph and his friends will be “wrecking” the hit mobile game Disney Crossy Road. Wreck-It Ralph World has already been a popular feature of the game but now Ralph will visit twelve other Disney and Pixar worlds to try and smash part of the gameplay.
